At Aberpoeth, we bring the Y Profiad Nordig — the Nordic Experience — to the stunning shores of Aberystwyth. Founded by Gethin and Iolo, Aberpoeth is rooted in a shared passion for wellness, community, and the rejuvenating power of saunas.

Featuring the handcrafted Arbor X sauna by Heartwood Saunas, our space blends traditional craftsmanship with modern comfort to create a sanctuary for relaxation and renewal. Join us for a unique experience that celebrates the warmth of Nordic traditions and the charm of the Welsh coast.

Meet The Team

  • A visionary founder of the Aberpoeth team, he brings a wealth of expertise in health and fitness to the sauna business. His academic journey led him to the University of South Wales, where he delved into the science of Strength and Conditioning. Iolo's commitment to understanding the intricacies of human physical performance and wellness laid the foundation for his keen interest in promoting health.

    After some difficult times in 2018, Iolo looked into various holistic methods to assist with his Insomnia and Mental Health difficulties. The discovery and research of Sauna and Cold Therapy intrigued his curiosity and began his journey into how beneficial the hot and cold are for our mental health as well as our physical health. The journey began!

    Inspired by a desire to create a business that goes beyond the ordinary, Gethin embarked on a transformative experience during a year abroad in Denmark. In Denmark, immersed in the Nordic culture, Gethin discovered the profound impact of saunas on physical and mental well-being. The close-knit community and ritualistic use of saunas left a lasting impression, igniting Gethin's vision to bring this rejuvenating experience to his hometown of Aberystwyth.

The Arbor X is a handcrafted outdoor sauna by Heartwood Saunas, designed to blend traditional aesthetics with modern comfort. Its twin-pitched cedar shingle roof and full-height glass front create a serene, cabin-like retreat that feels both private and open. Inside, the sauna features knot-free, thermally modified ash two-tier bench seating and poplar vertical tongue-and-groove cladding, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Arbor X comfortably accommodates up to ten people or allows three to recline fully.
